Overview

Forex.com is one of the few large brokers that accepts US clients, operating under NFA / CFTC oversight. Founded in 2001 and now owned by StoneX Group (a publicly listed company on NASDAQ), the broker carries one of the strongest financial backings in the retail forex space.

The broker offers a focused product: forex and CFDs, with MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, and a proprietary web platform. Forex.com leans on research and analyst content as differentiation against competitors with broader asset coverage.

Regulation & safety

Forex.com holds regulatory authorization in four major jurisdictions: NFA / CFTC (United States), FCA (United Kingdom), ASIC (Australia), and CIRO (Canada). NFA / CFTC oversight is among the strictest globally — US-resident forex brokers operate under leverage caps, mandatory negative-balance protection, and rigid reporting requirements.

Parent company StoneX is publicly traded on NASDAQ, meaning audited financials are available quarterly. For traders prioritizing regulatory and financial transparency, Forex.com sits at the top end of the industry.

Accounts

Account types vary by region. In the US, only the Standard account is offered. Outside the US, there are three main tiers:

  • Standard — $100 minimum deposit, spread-only pricing
  • Commission — raw spreads plus $5 per side per 100k traded
  • STP Pro — institutional-tier, higher minimum deposit, designed for high-volume traders

Fees & spreads

EUR/USD spreads on the Standard account typically run 1.0–1.4 pips. The Commission account brings raw spreads down to 0.2–0.4 pips with the $10 round-turn commission per 100k traded. There's an inactivity fee of $15 per month after 12 months of dormancy.

Overnight swap fees are competitive on majors but wider on exotics. The broker publishes its swap schedule publicly, which makes cost modeling for swing traders straightforward.

Platforms

Forex.com supports MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, a proprietary web platform, and a mobile app. The proprietary platform integrates research, news, and analyst commentary directly into the order ticket — a meaningful workflow advantage for traders who base decisions on fundamentals.

There's no cTrader and no TradingView integration. For pure technical traders who live in TradingView, FxPro or Pepperstone are stronger fits.

Asset coverage

Asset coverage is narrower than multi-asset competitors — the focus is forex and CFDs.

  • Forex: 80+ pairs
  • Index CFDs (US, EU, Asia)
  • Commodity CFDs (gold, silver, oil, agricultural)
  • Limited stock CFDs (region-dependent)

Deposits & withdrawals

Deposits accept bank wire, ACH (US), debit card, and PayPal in select regions. Crypto rails are not offered. Withdrawal processing typically completes within 1–3 business days. ACH withdrawals are free for US clients; international wires may carry bank-side fees.

Customer service

Support is available 24/5 via live chat, email, and phone. English-language coverage is comprehensive across all hours. Response times in our testing averaged under 3 minutes on live chat.

Verdict

Forex.com is the obvious pick for US-based traders — there are very few alternatives that combine NFA / CFTC regulation with serious operational scale. For non-US traders, the StoneX backing and FCA / ASIC oversight make Forex.com a strong tier-1 choice, though FxPro and Pepperstone offer broader platform options at similar regulatory tier. Best for: traders who value regulatory rigour and parent-company transparency over multi-asset breadth.
